The heart-shaped metal bird feeder by Sophie Conran at Burgon & Ball simply needs an apple or fat ball added! They make a lovely gift for any occasion such as Father’s Day, birthdays, retirement or a ‘thank you’ for looking after the pets while you’re away!

Each apple bird feeder is made from cream-coloured, powder coated galvanized steel with a leather cord to hang from a tree. They can be used all year round too – simply add an apple, pears, halved orange or any other soft fruit you have. This will make a healthy and delicious addition to any wild bird’s diet.

Includes:

• Heart shaped metal birdfeeder – measure 16.5cm wide by 17.5cm long – excluding the cord. The cord measures approximately 15cm long (can be shortened)
• Three packets of flower seeds – Sunflowers, Cosmos, Zinnia – all loved by birds
• Recipe card to make fat balls.

Cosmos ‘Candy Stripe’ – a white daisy with a magenta edge, giving it a ‘striped’ effect. Really pretty in any border or container. They prefer full or part sun, and will flower all summer long right until first frosts if you dead-head the flowers regularly. Grows to around 60-90cm tall so may need staking.

Sunflower Valentine – Easy to grow for cut flowers. Winner of an RHS Award of Garden Merit for reliability and good performance. Sow March-May. Flowers from June to October. Grows to around 150cm tall. Seeds in the seed packet are not edible, but once grown the seeds can be harvested and eaten, or why not leave them for the birds!

Zinnia – Beautiful bright bi-colour flowers which grow to around 70cm tall and are great cut flowers too. Sow them in the pot/border where they are to grow as they don’t like root disturbance. Sow outdoors May-June and will flower July-October.
