Description

Grow your own Jewel Garden with flowers that are loved by bees and butterflies. Ideal for borders, raised beds or containers and will bloom from spring to autumn. This kit is based upon the show garden I created at BBC Gardeners’ World Live which attracted the local bumble bees and butterflies. Suitable for normal loam soil in a sunny or part sunny garden.

• 1 x Mini planting plan so you know what plants go where. Plus suggestions of additional plants to complete the border

Calendula – Easy to grow hardy annual. Bright orange daisy type flowers which bloom the same year as sowing. Grow to around 60cm tall. Sow outdoors March-June or August-October. Sow indoors February-April. Flowers can be used to make calendula balm.

Zinnia – Beautiful bright bi-colour flowers which grow to around 70cm tall and are great cut flowers too. Sow them in the pot/border where they are to grow as they don’t like root disturbance. Sow outdoors May-June and will flower July-October.

Verbena bonariensis – A tall, elegant perennial has thin stems with a purple bobble-type flower on top. Grows to around 2m tall. Sow indoors Jan-April, flowers from June-October (first frosts).
